Nothing would make me more proud than to serve the children of our town on the Healdsburg Unified School District Board of Trustees.
My respect and gratitude for public schools started early and lasted throughout my education! I attended outstanding public schools in Del Mar, CA, for primary and secondary education in the 1980s. I graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelors degree in English, and earned a Masters degree in English while working full-time for the Mayor of San Diego.
My subsequent work experience includes freelance writing, non-profit community outreach, and corporate public affairs. During the course of my professional career, I focused on creating and sustaining excellent communication and relationships. For me, it has always been and will always be about the people.
When I became a mother, I developed a new set of skills, rooted in the same values. With our two oldest children only 18 months apart, every day was a triple shift. The years of caring for babies and toddlers deepened my commitment to family and community. Hard work, organization, dedication to details, and lots of patience-- accomplishes much.
I bring this diligence to classroom volunteering, and service on the Charter School Governing Council. Over time, I became familiar with many of the issues facing our school district and grew interested in taking on a larger role.
Our schools have much to celebrate each and every day. We also face challenges. We must grow and develop thoughtfully, with excellence and equity as our core values.
I ask you to consider voting for me on November 6 for the Healdsburg Unified School District Board of Trustees.
